Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

My rating:

I really like Resident Evil series, as well the games, yet I wasn't the one who playing the games. I'm just a observer and amateur critique. So for me this chapter of Resident Evil movie is quite expected for the ending except the bombing part where Alice, Chris and Claire were happy to see it. Honestly, I missed the first 30min of the movie. So I think I missed the fun part. Still I'll be watching it again to catch up what I missed for the first 30min of the movie.

The Expendable (2010)

Directed by Sylvester Stallone
Produced by Avi Lerner, Kevin King Templeton, John Thompson
Screenplay by Sylvester Stallone, David Callaham
Story by David Callaham
Synopsis

THE EXPENDABLES is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge – one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as “removing those hard to get at stains.” The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang (Jet Li), a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road (Randy Couture), a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons.

When the mysterious Church offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team embark on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas), the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people. On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra (Giselle Itie), a local freedom-fighter with a dark secret. They also come to learn who their true enemy is: rogue ex-CIA operative James Monroe (Eric Roberts) and his henchman Paine (Steve Austin). When things go terribly wrong, Barney and Christmas are forced to leave Sandra behind, essentially giving her a death sentence. Haunted by this failure, Barney convinces the team to return to Vilena to rescue the hostage and finish the job he started. And to perhaps save a soul: his own.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Synopsis:
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a 2010 fantasy adventure film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Jon Turteltaub, and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, the team behind the National Treasure franchise. The story is loosely based on the Sorcerer's Apprentice segment in Disney's Fantasia, which in turn is based on the late 1890s symphonic poem by Paul Dukas and the 1797 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ballad.
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan fighting against the forces of evil, in particular his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina), while searching for the person who will inherit Merlin's powers. This turns out to be Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a physics student at New York University, whom Balthazar takes as a reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling apprentice a crash course in the art and science of magic and sorcery, in order to stop Horvath and Morgana le Fay (Alice Krige) from destroying the world.

Featured Artist - Nov-Dec09 Ayumi Hamasaki

Ayumi Hamasaki [浜崎あゆみ], also known as Ayu, was born on October 2, 1978 in Fukuoka, Japan. She is an award-winning Japanese singer, and one of the most popular and influential artists to come from Asia.

Apart from being a singer, Ayumi is also a songwriter, a model, an actress, and a composer. Ayumi started her musical career in 1994 and released her first album “NOTHING FROM NOTHING” in 1995; the album was not successful, and she was subsequently dropped by her record label. In 1998, Hamasaki released her first single, Poker Face, via the Avex Trax label, after being discovered by label head Masato “Max” Matsuura partying at the avex-owned club, Velfarre. Hamasaki’s debut album, “A Song for ××”, was released in 1999, and won her a Gold Disk Award.

She has since sold more than 50 million records in Japan alone with the releases of her 9 full-length studio albums, 1 mini-album, 4 compilation albums, 45 singles, and 17 remix albums, becoming the top selling solo and female artist and the 4th top selling Japanese artist in history. With the release of her 40th single “BLUE BIRD”, Hamasaki’s single sales passed the 20 million mark, making her the first solo and female singer to reach that milestone.
With the release of her 45th single “Rule/Sparkle”, Hamasaki currently has 20 consecutive #1 singles (starting from “Free & Easy”) and 32 #1 singles in the Japanese ORICON charts. In addition, she is the first Japanese artist to have her first original 8 studio albums top the charts.

Hamasaki released her ninth studio album, GUILTY on January 1, 2008. Shortly after the release, Ayumi revealed that she had become completely deaf in her left ear, and that it is inoperable. It is believed that she suffers from tinnitus, and Ayumi has known about the condition of her left ear since 2007 after an examination. She also stated that she would continue on with her career for her fans, explaining that “nevertheless, I would like to continue as a singer. That’s why I would like to continue singing

until I reach the limit with my remaining right ear”.

In addition to serving as background music for television advertisements, some of Hamasaki’s songs have been used as themes for video games and film productions such as television shows and motion pictures. “Depend on you” and its b-side “Two of us” were used as the opening and ending theme, respectively, of the video game Thousand Arms, while the video game Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams used “Startin’” and “rainy day” as its opening and ending theme, respectively. The dorama My Little Chef featured “Voyage” as its theme, while the anime InuYasha featured “Dearest.” Finally, Hamasaki’s songs “HEAVEN”, “Secret”, “fated”, and “Rule” have been used as the themes for the movies Shinobi: Heart Under Blade, Confession of Pain, Kaidan, and DragonBall Evolution, respectively.
